New Galaxy?

After finishing with 120 stars as Mario I decided to do Luigi. Got 120 there also. I wasn't in the room when the screen said something about a new galaxy opening up. Any idea what or where it is? All help would be appreciated.

I agree, it wasn't that difficult to get Luigi. I wish there was more of a payoff then playing the game over again with a different character.
